A note from the Artist:
As a member of the vibrant fine arts community in Portland for over two decades, Michelle primarily works with acrylics, but often uses charcoal, in, and collage in her paintings, which range from landscapes to still life to figure.
Artist Statement
“For me, painting is about making marks & creating shapes; A lyrical line of ink; a broken scribble of charcoal; a thick brushstroke; a series of scratches carved into wet layers… until the image begins to emerge.
Lights & darks pull me in; diversity & change inspire me. They act not only as the connective tissue of my body of work, but the defining characteristic of each piece on its own.
Fleeting Moments
My most recent work is a reflection of the great satisfaction I have found in retaining freshness in the marks I apply to canvas. They naturally come forth when approaching Oregon landscape with thoughts of impermanence & movement. As a result my finished works often contain raw elements of my earliest, most authentic iterations.”
A long time participant in a variety of rotating art shows around the Portland Metropolitan area. Member of ArtHouse 23 a.k.a. The Big Green House art community since 2009.
